Jo and Mez
We have been together for 3 and a half years and I had just won some money, so we thought what better way to spend the money than go to the fantastic place of Egypt for a holiday!!!!
6 weeks ago we jetted off to, for me, the most exciting place in the world if you're into Egyptology.
We saw some amazing sights whilst there, we then decided that we would long haul it to Cairo to see one of the amazing wonders of the world, The Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza.
We spent the morning at the Pyramids before travelling down the road to see one of the most beautiful sights we have ever seen, The Sphinx!!!!
Whilst there, our guide took his time to tell us all he knew about the amazing scuplture, just as we were about to leave, my partner Mez ask our guide if he could have a word with me before we left and marched me back up the ramp at the side of the Sphinx. I wondered what was the matter with him as he is quite a shy bloke, next thing I know he is down on one knee with a beautiful diamond staring at me!!!!! I recognised the ring as I had seen it just before Valentines day and told Mez that this was the type of ring I wanted, AND LO AND BEHOLD HE LISTENED!!!!! I burst into tears of joy, with tears running down my face underneath my sunglasses, then Mez said 'Stop it you'll get me started!!'
So now we are waiting to start to plan our big day and I can't wait to be Mrs Mez as he likes to call me now.

Claire and Steve
It was my 30th birthday, (not an age I was especially looking forward to!) and Steve asked me to book the day off work as he had planned a surprise.
I had no idea at all where we were going but it was so exciting. He took me to the wonderful city of Bath where our day started being totally pampered in a luxurious Spa in the beautiful Royal Crescent Hotel.
After an absolutely scrummy champagne lunch I was then treated to afternoon tea on a gorgeous boat that took us up the Kennet & Avon canal. Absolutely wonderful, however, there was more to come.
As a finale to this already wonderful day, Steve had arranged for us to go on a champagne hot air balloon ride where 2,500 feet up in the air overlooking the beautiful city of Bath he proposed to me and I of course said yes!
After a very soft landing (unfortunately in a field of cow dung), I couldn't hold in my tears of joy and I've been ecstatic ever since!!
It was the most wonderful and most romantic day of my entire life.
And even more exciting than that is that we are now busy planning our 2006 Easter wedding.
Dreams really do come true!!

Tracey and Ian
Me and Ian had been together 10 years, he is my childhood sweetheart and we brought a house 2 years ago, I never really thought we'd ever get married!
He told me to book the week off and that he was taking me away, but it was a surprise. I didn't have a clue where we was going until we got to the airport and Ii saw the tickets to Venice. We were staying for 4 days and it was a lovely 4 star hotel over looking the grand canal, we'd been there a few days, then on our 10th anniversary on the balcony over looking the canal he asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes and we went out and celebrated around Venice.
I thought that was the end of surprises, but when we got back, he took me to see my family (they live away) and had booked us into a luxury suite in another posh hotel, room service, Jacuzzi, massive bed etc
It really was lovely and I feel lucky to have a romantic loving fiance, even after 10 years together!

Gemma and Mark
Mark and I had been together for 2 years and we had talked about getting married but Mark felt that he wasn't ready which was a bit of a sore point for a while but I got over it and forgot all about it.
On our 2nd year anniversary, we stayed in a hotel in London and Mark had booked us into a restaurant but kept it as a surprise.
We walked along the Embankment, which is one of my favourite parts of London because of the views. I kept asking for hints but I wasn't getting anything! Eventually we arrived at our destination, which was the Oxo Tower, where I had been nagging Mark to take me for ages, we had window seats with a fantastic view of London at night.
We had cocktails and champagne and a fabulous meal. When we were walking back to our hotel I was taking pictures of the views and Mark said he wanted to talk about something we had talked about before (I was thinking previously at dinner!) and proposed to me!
I was speechless for a second and thought he was joking! But I didn't hesitate to say yes! It was such a surprise apparently he had been planning it for ages and was trying to find the right time to ask me! We are getting married Sept 06!

Ali and Jon
I've loved movies all my life and have sat in front of romantic comedy after romantic comedy where the heroes propose to the heroines in front of gorgeous sunsets, on top of the Eiffel Tower, amidst a huge crowd and everyone cheers, but in the end, I realised it's not the setting, it's the proposal that counts.
My birthday was on a Saturday and I was having a party but my fiance, Jon and I wanted to have a personal celebration together, so he booked a table for two at an expensive seafood restaurant by the river. A friend then rang and asked if she could stay Friday night before the party. I asked Jon about this and whether she could join us for dinner and was puzzled why he got in such a huff and said he'd rather she didn't, so I asked my friend to come the following day.
The meal turned out to be a disaster. We were sat on the highest level with no one around us and the meal was very expensive but small portions, e.g. I had scampi for the main and got 4 pieces! In a pub, you get about 9 pieces! I was wearing a sarong and had tied it too tightly, so was feeling a bit ill, so excused myself to the loo after the main course to adjust it.
I sat back down, still feeling a bit ill and Jon had a twinkle in the eye, reached for my hand, brought out a ring and asked me to marry him! I was caught completely by surprise and my giddiness didn't help my stomach upset. I breathed out a faint and stunned "Yeah!" Jon hadn't been able to wait to propose, so had bought a token ring from Oasis, my favourite shop, as he wanted me to help him pick the ring and we later found a truly beautiful diamond one.
So there you have it. A disastrous meal, a stomach upset and a token ring, but who cared? I'd never been happier.

Michelle and Graham
Well what can I say about the engagement! It was true Graham Style!
We had talked about the fact that we would like to get married and spend the rest of our lives together, but we always thought it was a far off dream!
The 1st November 2003 came and we planned to spend the day spending a large sum of money kitting our new home out with Fridges, freezers and other very boring things you have to buy when moving in together!
After visiting various branches of large well known electrical suppliers and whilst sitting in what felt like a never ending traffic jam I made the flippant comment ' I can think of so many other things that I would rather be spending all this money on!'
Graham looked at me with a look that only men seem able to perfect and asked 'What is that dear?' to which I replied 'DIAMONDS!'.....................well I could see the cogs start to go round in his mind and all of a sudden he announced 'You see that Macdonalds car park over there.......well pull over turn around and go towards the M25....Were going to Bluewater'.....to which I replied 'But they don't sell washing machines in Bluewater!!'.....'No, but they sell Diamonds!!!!' came the reply!
And that is the story of how we became engaged! I drove all the way to Bluewater thinking 'any minute now he is going to say 'Gottcha!' but he didn't and now I have a beautiful diamond and a fantastic Fiance!!!
