Love Weddings Business of the Month
June 2004 - 'TK on the Day'
We are pleased to announce that our award for business of month June
2004 goes to www.tkontheday.co.uk
TK on the day are not a 'traditional' wedding co-ordination company
as "we don't take over the planning for you".
You
make all the decisions, you control what happens and we're there for
you on the day to ensure that everything you plan goes perfectly leaving
you free to enjoy every minute and every detail.
On the day itself, your dedicated co-ordinator will do everything and
anything that needs doing, from venue set-up and toastmaster duties
(announcing speeches, dinner etc) to keeping everything running to time
and dealing with any little problems that crop up. Please click on the
link above to read all about this fantastic company.
We caught up with Tamryn - to find out more about her and her business.
Tell us about TK on the Day?
I founded ‘TK on the Day’ in May 2003 to specialise purely
in wedding day management. It was intended as a middle ground for couples
who didn’t want to hand all of the arrangements over to a wedding
planner but who also didn’t want to be worrying about anything
on the day itself. We took 6 bookings in our first month and things
have snowballed from there!
What made you start a wedding related business?
‘TK on the Day’ came from my own wedding day frustrations
as despite numerous meetings with our venue, the reception drinks were
still late and we were being asked questions all day by the staff who
were checking details they should have known. My ‘work’
history has a strong event management bias but I’d left my job
when I had my son so I had the perfect opportunity to set up ‘TK
on the Day’ to help other couples and use my past experience.
What makes your service unique?
We only offer a wedding day management service and although there are
now lots of companies offering a variant of the ‘on the day’
package, most also offer full planning. We also perform the toastmaster
function at weddings we co-ordinate so we make announcements as required.
But, I would say what makes us truly unique is our staff – we
are all so incredibly passionate about our clients and providing an
absolutely outstanding service.
Who does TK on the Day consist of?
The team now consists of three co-ordinators – Beverly Pearce,
Chloe Webster and myself. I had to make the decision at Christmas 2003
whether to expand or not as I was so incredibly busy. I did worry about
handing my reputation over to other people but in Bev and Chloe I have
found two people who have an amazing eye for detail and are caring,
considerate and above all professional. I’m lucky to be able to
work alongside them.
What has been the highlight of your involvement with other
people’s weddings?
The highlight for me is seeing people smiling and happy, whether it’s
the bride and groom, their families or their guests. It’s such
a buzz when everything goes really well and couples have the best day
with all the people they care about. I also love making the bride and
groom feel special and looked after at all times – if you can’t
be pampered on your wedding day, when can you?! I’m also really
pleased to say that a couple of clients are now really good friends
which is lovely.
What is your commitment to couples using your service?
Our commitment is total professionalism. We work in their best interests
at all times – any recommendations we make are because we believe
those companies to suit the couple, not because we receive any form
of payment for passing on work. We’re contactable and knowledgeable,
honest and committed at all times. We’ll do everything we say
we will, and more.
What do you most enjoy about working in the wedding industry?
I love being able to work with a wide variety of people in a wide variety
of locations, from castles to gardens. I’ve learnt so much about
lots of cultures and I’ve been able to be part of so many fantastic
days. No two weddings are even slightly similar and the diversity is
brilliant, it’s never boring, it’s always rewarding and
it’s just the best!
The future for TK on the Day?
More of the same definitely, lots more happy clients and wonderful weddings!
Seriously though, there are quite a few things in the pipeline that
I’d love to tell you about but until everything is finalised,
I’ll stay quiet! Watch this space as they say!!
