Love Weddings Business of the Month
Nether Winchendon House
We are pleased to announce that our award for business of the month goes to www.netherwinchendonhouse.com
We caught up with the owners - to find out more about this lovely country house. 1. Can you tell us the history of your beautiful Country House? Nether Winchendon House is a mediaeval and Tudor manor house with 18th Century alterations in the Strawberry Hill Gothic style. It has passed by family descent since the mid-16th Century. The gardens in their present form were laid out in the 1950's and contain many rare and interesting plants, shrubs and trees. 2. We understand the grounds of the house have been the set for a very famous English film! That must have been pretty amazing.... tell us more!
3. What do you most enjoy about working in the hotelier /corporate function industry? Meeting prospective brides and grooms and joining in the excitement of the preparations leading up to their wedding. 4. What makes your service for brides and grooms to be special?
5. Have you had any unusual weddings that have been held at the house? We have just had a two day wedding ceremony and reception at the Barn, Bridal garden and cottage, which was filmed for a Sky One documentary called "The Great British Wedding" due to be aired during Spring 2006. The couple were great to work with and had some extraordinary props in and around the Bridal garden including a lifesize funky cow, flamingo and toadstools. 6. What is your commitment to your customers?
7. Please share any additional information that you would like to appear in the feature. Our historic and impressive barn is a wonderful venue at any time of the year. It lends itself to traditional as well as contemporary and unusual decorative effects. Using the barn complex is highly cost effective. It comprises a magnificent beamed and high vaulted barn most often used for dining and entertaining. Leading off from this is an intimate paneled dance room where a number of individually exposed wall timbers allow guests to retain their connection with the main barn area. The bar and ceremony room are connected to the main barn by an old-fashioned style wooden staircase.
